History

Embarking on a journey that spans more than seven decades, Dyrhoff has come a long way since its inception in 1947 as a steel fabrication company in Norway. As a supplier of heating and ventilation products, Dyrhoff established a firm foothold in the industry, while also catering to the needs of the hydro-electric sector through the supply of components.

In 1989, Dyrhoff's path took a new turn when it became the Scandinavian agent for Sumitomo Electric, a leading supplier of rubber dams worldwide. Recognising an opportunity to offer Sumitomo's innovative Sumigate product to the hydroelectric market in the region, Dyrhoff quickly became involved in the commissioning of its first Sumitomo rubber dam at the Orevann Hydroelectric Plant in 1992.

Around this time, Donald Mason, now the Managing Director of Dyrhoff Limited, was working as European Product Manager for Sumitomo, overseeing the supply of Sumitomo dams across Europe, including 5 rubber dams on the River Serpis in Spain in 1990.

In 1997, Dyrhoff expanded its horizons further by becoming the European Agent for Obermeyer Hydro Inc., a prominent American manufacturer of pneumatic spillway gates. The first European Obermeyer spillway gate was supplied by Dyrhoff for the Denkpal Flood Diversion project in Hungary the same year.

In the early 2000s, Dyrhoff took over the international Sumigate rubber dam business from Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. Following Sumitomo's decision to focus on its domestic Japanese rubber dam market, Don Mason, in collaboration with Dyrhoff, set up a new office in Folkestone, UK, which is now the headquarters of Dyrhoff's rubber dam and spillway gate business. Since then, Dyrhoff have been involved in the design, supply, and commissioning of
over 100 rubber dams and spillway gates across four continents.

As Dyrhoff continues to build on its rich history and expertise, it remains committed to providing innovative solutions for water control, and to delivering quality products and services that meet the evolving needs of its clients.
