Rubber dams have a typical life span of 20 – 30 years, although there are older operating examples. All dams should be regularly inspected for signs of wear but Dyrhoff recommends that any dam approaching this age should have a more thorough examination. This will ensure that it is free of defects and give an opportunity to replace or repair any components before these wear out. Replacing these components in good time can save more expense and loss of operation later on.
Dyrhoff has experience of inspecting and maintaining dams supplied by various manufacturers, including those supplied by Bridgestone in the 1980s and 1990s.
